NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – The Elks Lodge #985 right here in North Platte providing some much needed assistance to three food pantries. Salvation Army, Grace Ministries, and the North Platte Catholic Community Food Pantry receiving seven hundred and fifty dollar checks from The Elks.

“We wanted to contribute to the three food pantries in North Platte, always wish you could do more but we try to do our part to support,” said Elks Leading Knight Robert Britton. Britton is the first and only person from Nebraska to receive the Marvin M Lewis Award.

Major Herald Poff of the Salvation Army was beyond grateful for the assistance. “It’s huge, like I said it’s timely. This is typically a time of year when donations tend to be less, the shelves are getting pretty bare at this point.” said Poff.

This is just the latest in the Elks; string of philanthropic efforts. The group is actively recruiting new members and applications can be found on their website “Elks.org”
