Stroudsburg woman charged in overdose death | Poconos and Coal Region
STROUDSBURG, Pa. – A Monroe County woman was arrested after authorities say she provided heroin to a woman who later died of an overdose.
Nachelle Davis, 50, of Stroudsburg Borough, was arrested and charged last week for drug delivery resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, according to the county district attorney’s office.
Davis provided heroin, which was ultimately found to contain fentanyl, to Ashley Pinero, 37, in the Stroudsburg area on Jan. 10, 2020, the DA’s office said. Pinero overdosed the next morning and was hospitalized in intensive care until she ultimately died on January 15, according to the DA’s office.
Toxicology reports indicated that Pinero died from fentanyl toxicity, according to the news release. Phone records and text-based communications between the two show that Davis was the source of the fatal dose, the DA’s office said.
Davis was arraigned, and her bail was denied. She is currently in the Monroe County Correctional Facility awaiting a preliminary hearing.
