Best Bet: R6 No.2 Nirvana
He looks ideally placed following an encouraging first up run. At $3+ he appeals as a worthy gamble.

Next Best: R3 #10 Credlin
She resumes in a weak maiden on the back of an encouraging jump out. At $3+ she looks worth a bet.

Leg 1: 2, 4, 9, 11

Leg 3: 10, 12, 13

Leg 4: 1, 5, 10, 13, 17

Race 1 – bet365 Top Tote Plus SV 3YO Maiden Plate

13 – My Best Effort

3 – Defence Force

15 – Top Critic

1 – Crown Of Melbourne

Race Overview: My Best Effort produced a big last 600 coming from last in a fast maiden first up & then outperformed her $31 starting price at Flemington in a stronger race last start coming home in some of the fastest closing sectionals of the race. She might be ready to peak third up, looks suited dropping back to a maiden & has the edge in race experience over her main rival in the betting. Defence Force has jumped out impressively & can measure up without surprising. Top Critic can improve off a solid debut in a stronger maiden.

Race 2 – Hygain Maiden Plate

11 – Quality Diamond

13 – Sigrid

1 – Black Ink

4 – Hugo Loves Vegas

Race Overview: Quality Diamond appeals on an each-way basis at double figures in a moderate maiden. I’d be forgiving of her last start where she settled further back than usual & the jockey reported she didn’t handle the heavy 10. If you do then her previous form reads well for this. She’s had a jumpout since her last start at Cranbourne which she won under light riding beating a couple of talented horses.

Race 3 – Bendigo Service Centre Maiden Plate

10 – Credlin

9 – Callme Miss Maisie

13 – Seneca Falls

3 – Capito

Race Overview: Credlin resumes on the back of an encouraging jumpout in what looks a pretty weak maiden. Her second start behind Relucent & He’s A Balter looks good for this and she did have excuses in her other two runs. At the price ($5+ race morning) she looks worth a bet.

Race 4 – bet365 Odds Drift Protector Maiden Plate

2 – Prosecutor

4 – Cyclone Sally

10 – Lady Kermadec

6 – Barely A Challenge

Race Overview: I found this a tough maiden. I doubt there’s much between Prosecutor & Cyclone Sally & both should get nice runs on or near the speed. Lady Kermadec has upside and looks the other key chance in a low confidence race. Barely A Challenge and Seabaz could easily improve sharply without surprising.

Race 5 – Iron Jack Maiden Plate

6 – Imagine Howe

13 – Yesugei

12 – Wise Dragon

14 – Miette Star

Race Overview: Imagine Howe looked desperately unlucky at Tatura last start where he probably should’ve won easily. He should be able to settle much closer to the lead with the rise in distance & ideal barrier here. Yesugei is an interesting debutant nominated for the Derby that won a recent Geelong jumpout but the market hasn’t missed him!

Race 6 – bet365 Protest Promise BM64 Handicap

2 – Nirvana

9 – Mainland

4 – Peace Brother

11 – Surooj

Race Overview: Nirvana looks very well placed following an encouraging first up run at Swan Hill. He should take improvement out of that run, the rise in distance suits and the horse that beat him Okotoks ran well at Murtoa on Saturday in a strong BM64. At better than $3 ($3.50-$3.70 available race morning) he looks one of the better bets on the program.

Race 7 – TAC Be Races Ready BM64 Handicap

5 – Influential Jack

2 – Our Girl Silke

3 – The Wrangler

4 – Fast Plan

Race Overview: Influential Jack finds a suitable race where he’s drawn ideally and should be ready to produce a peak performance third up. He did have his chance last start though and there isn’t any edge in the early price. Our Girl Silke looks the main danger.

Race 8 – Hanging Rock Winery F&M BM64 Handicap

12 – Rainbiel

13 – Safe Passage

10 – Scream Dream

11 – Madam Mischief

Race Overview: Rainbiel ran the fastest last 600 of the meeting and second fastest last 200 of the meeting from the front to win her maiden first up in fast time beating two subsequent winners in the process. She might be open to further improvement and looks the one to beat. A genuinely wet track would be some concern. Safe Passage’s starting price first up deserves respect following a forgivable performance.

Race 9 – bet365 Racing Refunds C,G&E BM64 Handicap

10 – Ellis Park

1 – Southern Turf

17 – Dreams And Schemes

5 – Zoology

Race Overview: Low confidence race. Ellis Park has jumped out solidly after pulling up lame in a stronger race before a spell. He showed talent winning on debut albeit in a weak Sandown maiden. Southern Turf is a track and distance specialist while Dreams And Schemes, Zoology and Power Station can all win without surprising.
