Nonstop flights to Memphis will begin Oct. 1

Put on your blue suede shoes and board the plane: Starting Oct. 1, Hoosiers can walk in Memphis after taking a daily, nonstop flight from Indianapolis International Airport.

Delta Air Lines will offer the new flight, which is currently available Oct. 1 through Dec. 18. The route hasn’t been served since 2015.

A ticket for a one-way flight from IND to MEM on Oct. 1 started at $188 when searched on Delta’s website about noon Saturday. The one hour and 35-minute flight would replace a roughly seven-hour drive from Central Indiana.

Memphis, Tennessee, is the home of FedEx’s largest hub, which gives the new route an added benefit to the FedEx employees located in Indianapolis, Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Mario Rodriguez said in a news release.
